The Church of Jesus Christ, a Rroma church dedicated to faith and fellowship, plays a pivotal role in the transformative efforts of the Transform Uzhhorod Alliance (TUA) to aid internally displaced persons (IDPs). As part of the TUA’s six active centers, the Church provides IDPs with shelter in the homes of its congregation, embodying the alliance’s commitment to hospitality and community support.
Hope of Ukraine, a key member of the TUA, has crafted the “Group of Trust” course, a faith-enriching program that the Church of Jesus Christ has adopted for the spiritual guidance of IDPs within its care. The inaugural participants have completed this course, marking a significant step in their integration into the church’s community and spiritual life.
The Church of Jesus Christ has been actively reaching out to the Rroma families around them, resulting in many embracing the Christian faith and joining the church’s growing congregation. These outreach efforts have been central to the church’s mission to share love and faith within their community.
In a collaborative venture, the Church of Jesus Christ, together with TUA partners like Hope of Ukraine, Nehemiah, and One Collective, is in the process of establishing the Rroma Social Life Center. This center aims to be a cultural and community hub, with facilities such as a park, café, gym, and essential sanitation facilities including showers, laundry, and a hair salon to serve the needs of a community with limited water services. Additionally, it will include a Christian school to invest in the education and spiritual development of Rroma youth.
