How Jesus Is Changing the Lives of Displaced Women in Uzhhorod

The Women’s Focus Group: A Community Changed by Christ

At the heart of the Transform Uzhhorod Alliance’s approach to community transformation are Ministry Focus Groups—teams of dedicated servants who channel resources, relationships, and the love of Jesus into specific areas of community need. One of the most fruitful of these is the Women’s Focus Group, led by Marina Landro of One Collective.

Ukraine’s ongoing conflict has displaced millions, and many of those who have found their way to the Uzhhorod region are women who have lost homes, communities, and in many cases, everything they once knew. What they have found here—because of your partnership—is Jesus.

Annual Retreats: 100% Decisions for Christ

The Women’s Focus Group has now held two annual retreats specifically designed to welcome internally displaced women, surround them with the love of Christ, and share the hope of the gospel. The results have been nothing short of miraculous:

of internally displaced women who attended the annual retreats made a personal decision to become followers of Jesus Christ.

This is not the fruit of clever programming or human persuasion—this is the sovereign work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of women who came broken and encountered the living God. To Him alone be all glory and praise.

And the transformation did not end at the retreat. The majority of these women have since joined discipleship groups led by Alliance member churches—the very churches that invited them to the conferences. They are being rooted in Scripture, growing in faith, and becoming part of the local body of Christ. Your support made it possible to extend this invitation. Jesus made it possible for it to be answered.

One-Day Inspirational Events: Sustaining the Journey

Coming to faith is the beginning of a journey, and the Women’s Focus Group has taken an important new step in supporting women along that path. In addition to the annual retreats, the team has begun hosting one-day inspirational events designed to encourage and strengthen both newly believing displaced women and women already walking with Jesus through the Alliance’s member churches.

One such event centered on the theme of Victorious Life in Christ. Women from across the Alliance gathered to hear powerful testimonies from sisters in Christ who have walked faithfully through hardship—and who shared not just what they endured, but how the grace of Jesus sustained and transformed them. These were not polished performances, but honest accounts of real lives changed by a real Savior.

The ripple effect of these gatherings extends far beyond the event itself. Women return to their churches, their homes, and their communities carrying renewed vision and fresh courage to live boldly for Jesus. The seeds planted in these gatherings are already bearing fruit across the Uzhhorod region.

None of this happens in isolation. Every woman who walked through the doors of a retreat, every testimony shared at an inspirational event, every discipleship conversation that followed—each of these moments was made possible by a network of faithful people who prayed and gave so that ministry could happen.

That network is you.

Your prayers have gone before this ministry into rooms we have never entered. Your financial gifts have opened doors, printed materials, funded meals, and covered travel costs so that women who had lost everything could encounter the One who offers everything. You are not spectators to this work—you are co-laborers with us and with the Holy Spirit in the ongoing transformation of Uzhhorod.

To Him Alone Be the Glory

We are profoundly grateful for what Jesus is doing through the Women’s Focus Group—and through the entire Transform Uzhhorod Alliance. But we hold this work with open hands, knowing that what is being built here is not our ministry, nor is it ours to take credit for. Every changed heart, every woman who found Jesus in the midst of displacement and loss, every disciple now growing in the faith—these are the works of a God who specializes in making new things out of broken ones.
