In the bustling city of Uzhhorod, Ukraine, New Hope Evangelical Church stands as a beacon of hope amidst challenging times, thanks to the unwavering support of the International Church of Ljubljana in Slovenia through our Sister Church Association. Established to aid Ukrainian churches during financial hardships, this partnership has enabled New Hope to continue its vital ministry efforts.
Pastor Vyacheslav’s dedication to nurturing the next generation of pastors remains undeterred, thanks to this support. Recently, he invested three days imparting systematic and pastoral theology to young pastors, despite the backdrop of war-induced stress. His heartfelt observation that amidst the chaos, there are still individuals eager to serve God’s kingdom resonates deeply. Moreover, his mentorship extends beyond teaching, as he cultivates ministry seeds within two mentees, while also ensuring vital medical assistance reaches members serving on the front lines. A recent visit to an ailing chaplain underscores the tangible impact of this support, offering not only encouragement but also prayerful solidarity in the face of adversity.
Meanwhile, in Uzhhorod, New Hope’s outreach extends to wounded soldiers, providing comfort and companionship to approximately 50 individuals, many of whom are yet to embrace the teachings of Jesus. As Easter approaches, preparations are underway to offer these brave souls special gifts, further demonstrating the love and compassion inherent in their ministry.
Despite the allure of safety elsewhere, Pastor Vyacheslav’s steadfast commitment to his calling speaks volumes. When questioned by Pastor Todd from Ljubljana about his decision to remain, despite the hardships, Pastor Vyacheslav acknowledged his weariness but affirmed his faith-driven resolve to stay. With the support of their Sister Church, he finds the strength to persevere, ensuring not only the continuation of his ministry but also the provision for his family.
