Mexico Chooses to Support Ukraine – Day 46 (April 10, 2022)

Summary of the Events of the Day

Ukrainian forces held their ground while Russia is sending more and more troops into the region. Russia continues to destroy Ukrainian cities from the air.

Battle for the Skies

The Ukraine air defenses, now bolstered by the Slovakian S-300 air defense system, shot down five Russian cruise missiles, three planes, one helicopter, and seven drones.

Battle for the Donbas (Donetsk, Luhansk, Mariupol, Kharkiv, and Sumy)

Kharkiv endured another day of shelling, but Ukrainian forces held their ground. Ten civilians, including one child, were killed. A major Russian offensive was made against Izyum but the Russian column was destroyed.

A satellite photo has captured an 8-mile-long convoy of Russian troops having entered Ukraine and moving past Velykyi Burluk 65 miles east of Kharkiv heading towards the Donbas.

The Contact Line in the Luhansk region (Popasna-Nyzhnye-Severodonetsk-Rubizhne) held against numerous assaults by Russian forces. Residential buildings and schools were shelled heavily in Popasna and Severodonetsk. Two pensioners were rescued from the rubble. There was one death and four injuries.

The Contact Line in the Donetsk region (Vuhledar-Maryinka-Avdiivka-Toretsk) also held against a constant barrage of shelling. A major offensive against Maryinka was repulsed.

The death toll of the Russian missile attack on the Kramatorsk train station has risen to 57 civilians.

The defenders of Mariupol held for yet another day against the blockade of superior Russian forces.

The Battle for the Black Sea (Odesa, Mykolaiv, and Kherson)

Infrastructure facilities in Mykolaiv were destroyed in several missile strikes. There were no casualties.

Russian-occupation forces in Kherson began to indiscriminately throw grenades at homes. The soldiers are looting and stealing food from residents.

Other Regions

Missile strikes were made against Dnipro which has a population of one million. The Dnipro airport has been completely destroyed as well as a farm and infrastructure facilities. One civilian died in Novopavlivka after handling a cassette bomb.

International Support

Mexico, who has remained neutral up until now, has finally come out and condemned Russia for its invasion of Ukraine.
