Ukraine Sinks Russian Flagship Moskva – Day 50 (April 14, 2022)

Summary of the Events of the Day

Ukrainian forces held their positions not giving up and territory. Some of the marines that escaped from Mariupol have arrived at Ukrainian forces and are still battle ready. Those that stayed and joined the Azov National Guard at the Mariupol steel mill pledge to defend Mariupol to the end. Ukraine sunk Russia’s flagship Moskva (Moscow) in the Black Sea.

Battle for the Donbas (Donetsk, Luhansk, Mariupol, and Kharkiv)

Popasna and Lysychansk came under heavy fire but there were no casualties.

Battle For Kharkiv

Russia continues to bomb and shell Kharkiv. Rockets hit the northern residential areas where no Ukrainian forces were anywhere nearby. Four civilians were killed today.

Battle for the Black Sea (Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Odesa)

Ukraine sunk Russia’s flagship Moskva (Moscow) which was the guided-missile cruiser that has been terrorizing Ukrainian cities in the Black Sea. Ukraine hit it with two anti-ship rockets which ignited their huge supplies of rockets stored on the ship intended to be used against Ukrainian cities. Russia has threatened to level Kyiv in retaliation.

International Support

The U.S. government has pledged another $800 million in military aid bringing their total aid to $2.6 billion. This latest tranche includes heavy weapons such as 11 helicopters and 18 howitzers.

Czech and Polish Senators arrived in Kyiv to address the Ukrainian Rada and show their support of Ukraine.

Irish Foreign Minister Simon Coveney visited Kyiv in support of Ukraine. He was the first foreign minister from a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council to visit Ukraine.
