Summary of the Events
UAF gave up the Vuhlehirsk Power Plant and Novoluhanske as RF were threatening to encircly them. Russia is moving more troops into the Kherson region as UAF are making gains. Ukraine blew up the Antonovskiy bridge making it harder for RF forces to resupply their forces in the region.
Battle for the Donbas
Target Siversk – RF gained some more ground on their drive to Siversk threatening to cut off UAF in Serebrianka and Hryhorivka. RF also attacked Verkhnokamyanske, but UAF held their ground. RF were also repelled from an attack towards Ivano-Darivka
Target Bakhmut – UAF retreated from the Vuhlehirsk Power Plant and the nearby town of Novoluhanske as they were close to being cut off. RF immediately moved in and took both places and immediately started driving towards Semyhiria and Kodema. RF also inched closer to Soledar and has gained ground and air superiority over Pokrovs’ke. RF partly withdrew from Berestove allowing UAF back in and placing the town under street fighting.
RF shelled a hotel in Bakhmut which resulted in two deaths and three injuries.
Target Slovyansk – UAF held on to the high ground over Bohorodychne yet another day. UAF pushed closer to Pasika and came under fire from a RF reconnaissance group which the UAF quickly neutralized. UAF also destroyed RF pontoon bridges they were building near Yaremivka to supply their troops.
Expansion from Donetsk – RF were repelled from their attacks on Pavlivka and Blahodatne.
Battle for Kharkiv
UAF eliminated a RF reconnaissance group near Chepil in southeast Kharkiv region. RF are improving their logistical support in the area expecting Ukraine to counterattack in the region.
RF fired missiles on Kharkiv killing two and injuring six civilians.
Battle for Kherson
RF attempted to retake Bilohirka but were repelled. And UAF heavily damaged the Antonovskiy Bridge if not destroyed the bridge. If this is true, then RF have lost their retreat from Kherson and their supply line. Ukraine had warned Russia that they would destroy the bridge giving them time to retreat. Ukraine has offered another gesture of grace saying they will allow RF to swim safely across the river without fear of attack if they are retreating.
UAF shot down a drone that was attempting to attack a radar station. They also shot down two missiles over Bashtanka.
RF conducted four air strikes on UAF in the region but there were no casualties. RF also accidentally conducted an air strike against their own forces, forcing RF defenders to shoot down one of their own KA-52 helicopters. RF forces also fired artillery at Velyka Kostromka, but all shells fell short in a field causing no damage.
UAF conducting 300 firing missions against RF in the region killing 89 Russian soldiers.
Other Regions
Dnipropetrovsk – RF fired on Nikopol and Marhanets with MLRS injuring one woman.
Mykolaiv – Mykolaiv was hit by again in the morning with a car repair shop destroyed. There were no casualties. UAF shot down the drone that was performing reconnaissance for the missile attack.
Sumy – RF attacked three border communities with mortars and artillery injuring one woman.
Other News
President Volodymyr Zelensky fired Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova and Security Chief Ivan Bakanov due to suspicion of treason against Ukraine for their reluctance to root out corruption prior to the invasion of Russia. Zelensky has announced Andriy Kostin, a member of the ruling party, to become the next Prosecutor General. He is currently the head of the Rada’s Committee on Legal Policy.
Naftogaz defaulted on its payments to Eurobond holders. Naftogaz had the funds to cover the payments, but the Ukrainian government decided not to approve the payments as the funds are needed to fund the war effort. It was a hard decision as investors will be less likely to invest in Naftogaz in the future.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is on a tour of Egypt, Ethiopia, Uganda, and the Republic of Congo making the case that starvation is coming to their countries because of the West’s support of Ukraine. If Ukraine had been allowed to fall, then Russia would have maintained the shipment of grain to their countries.
