The war has been at a standstill these last few weeks with neither side making any significant territorial advances.

  • Russia 1 – No confirmed advances were made. But Russian shelling in the area has become so intense that Ukraine has ordered the evacuation of Kupyansk and 36 other surrounding settlements.
  • Russia 2 – No confirmed advances were made but the increase of Russian medical units in the region suggest heavy Russian casualties.
  • Russia 3 – No confirmed or claimed advances were made.
  • Ukraine 1 – Ukrainian forces have been stopped to a standstill around Bakhmut but claimed to have made some territorial gains to the south of Bakhmut. Russia did make some advances north of Bakhmut towards Yahidne in their counterattacks in the region.
  • Ukraine 2 – Ukrainian forces have likely reached the southwestern suburbs of Urozhaine placing that settlement in contest and have moved closer to Priyutne.
  • Ukraine 3 – Ukrainian forces made some limited advances in the north around Robotyne but have not yet reached the settlement. Some are suggesting that Ukraine is changing its objective from Robotyne and is now shifting towards Bilohirya and Pyatykhaty. This was confirmed by Russian advances to the north of Robotyne as well.
  • Ukraine 4 – Russian artillery fire on the eastern bank of the Dnipro River suggests that Ukrainian forces are still holding positions on the eastern bank near Kozachi Laheri.

The status of the agreement between the Russian Ministry of Defense and the Wagner Group is unknown currently. On Wednesday, hundreds of Wagner Group forces returned to Southern Russia from Belarus which created a media storm about whether they were returning as the agreement had fallen apart. Speculation that Russia was reneging on the deal to Belarus to support Wagner Group expenses was the leading reason. But others are suggesting the move is being orchestrated by Russia in order to bring the Wagner Group under the Russian Ministry of Defense and having them in Russia will allow them to watch them more closely.

An explosion Wednesday at the Zagorsk Optical Mechanical Plant in Moscow caused widespread damage to the plant that produces pyrotechnics and precision optical equipment for the military. The cause of the explosion was most likely caused by mismanagement of the plant which killed one person and injured at least 60 others. There is no evidence nor claims of Ukrainian sabotage.

Russia continues the illegal deportation of Ukrainian children to Russia with another unspecified number of children from occupied Zaporizhia Oblast being taken to Kuban State University in Krasnodar Krai allegedly for summer camp that will last for three weeks.
