In times of crisis, the true resilience of Christ’s church shines brightest. Youth of God Salvation Church in Kyiv stands as a powerful testament to how a congregation can continue serving others even while facing their own profound challenges, thanks to the faithful support of global ministry partners.
Through Transform Ukraine’s partnership with One Collective, the Sister Church Association was established to provide Ukrainian pastors with dignified salaries, enabling them to focus on leading their congregations during these war-torn days. The partnership between Youth of God Salvation Church and Christ Church of Lake Forest, Illinois, exemplifies the impact of this initiative.
When Pastor Sasha was conscripted into military service in April 2022, his family became internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Uzhhorod. Despite the physical separation from their congregation, the support from Christ Church of Lake Forest made it possible for Pastor Sasha to maintain his leadership role. Today, the church celebrates his reunion with the congregation in Kyiv and witnesses renewed growth in their ministry.
The impact of this global partnership extends far beyond the walls of their church. Pastor Sasha and his wife Marina have expanded their outreach across Ukraine, serving displaced families throughout the nation. Marina regularly returns to Uzhhorod to serve in Transform Ukraine’s IDP ministries, while together they conduct seminars in Odessa, offering encouragement and practical guidance to local church leaders facing wartime challenges.
Back in Kyiv, their ministry focuses on bringing hope to displaced children through activities that provide relief from trauma while sharing Christ’s love. In a touching gesture of partnership, they recently hosted a Thanksgiving celebration, embracing their American sister church’s tradition while serving their local community.
Their commitment to service reaches even to the frontlines, where they deliver essential supplies and offer prayers for troops defending their nation. This comprehensive ministry demonstrates how international support enables Ukrainian churches to maintain their mission of service even in the midst of conflict.
This story of partnership, resilience, and continued ministry stands as a powerful reminder of how the global Church can come together to build God’s kingdom, even in the most challenging circumstances. Through prayer and financial support, partners around the world are helping Ukrainian congregations not just survive but continue their vital ministry of serving others in Christ’s name.
