April 18 – Heros of UkraineBy Douglas Landro / April 18, 2022 IDP children at play in our Connections Cafe which has become their home away from home this last month. These are the real heroes who stay strong despite having lost everything. These are the ones whose future for which we are fighting. Some of our heroes. Marina runs a humanitarian hotline in receiving and distributing aid to Ukrainian victims of war. Her boss, Oleg (center), is one of my dearest friends who founded Radooga Ministries. He is an IDP whose family stayed at our home the first days of the conflict until they left for Europe while Oleg stayed to set up the humanitarian aid center in Mukachevo. They supplied us with the first two truckloads of aid Sasha (right) brought to Kyiv (I accompanied Sasha this last weekend on the second journey). Sasha is the pastor of Bethany Baptist Church in Bucha (the city where all the atrocities were committed by Russian soldiers). He and his family also stayed in our home before his wife and younger children left for Germany. He and his older son, Igor, remain with us serving IDP families and bringing aid to the vicitms of Russian war crimes around Kyiv.
