In 2017, Igor and Alyona Minenko embraced the vision to establish a Christian camp and retreat center in the vicinity of Uzhhorod. As the camp’s operational head, Igor plays several pivotal roles; he’s a founding figure in the Transform Uzhhorod Alliance, the initial chair of Transform Ukraine, and spearheads RD. This organization is celebrated for pioneering a youth ministry training program, which, since 1998, has equipped numerous Ukrainian congregations. RD is also recognized for organizing seasonal camps dedicated to supporting at-risk children.
A recent gathering marked the five-year milestone of their project and served as the inaugural event for the main residential facility at the campsite. Presently, this facility provides a sanctuary for three young individuals who have been uprooted from the conflict-torn eastern regions of Ukraine. Under Igor’s tutelage, these youths are immersed in a leadership curriculum that prepares them for future roles in ministry work.
Moving forward, the expansion plans for the camp include the construction of four new cabins, which will initially offer refuge to families displaced by war. Moreover, there is an aspirational goal to acquire adjacent properties, laying the groundwork for a camp capable of hosting one hundred young participants.
