At the heart of our work with Transform Ukraine is a profound understanding of discipleship that reflects Jesus’ own method. We’re training church leaders to embrace a two-pronged approach that we believe is essential for genuine spiritual growth:
- Invitation to Relationship: Just as Jesus called His disciples to “be with Him” (Mark 3:14), we’re teaching leaders to create warm, welcoming environments where people feel truly known and loved. This relational aspect provides the safety and belonging that allows for vulnerability and growth.
- Challenge to Change: Simultaneously, we emphasize the importance of calling disciples to step out of their comfort zones. Jesus consistently challenged His followers, pushing them to grow in faith, character, and mission. We’re equipping leaders to lovingly challenge those they disciple, encouraging them to take risks, confront sin, and live missionally.
This balanced approach is critical. Without the challenge, faith becomes comfortable but stagnant. Without the relational component, spiritual life can become a stressful, performance-driven exercise. But when invitation and challenge come together, we see disciples who are deeply rooted in Christ’s love and boldly living out their faith.
Your support is helping us instill these principles through our intensive one-year program using the Huddle method developed by 3DMovements. Leaders are learning to create discipleship environments that are both nurturing and stretching. They’re discovering how to ask probing questions, how to listen deeply, and how to guide others into taking faith-filled steps of obedience.
We’re seeing this approach bear fruit at Philadelphia Church in Kyiv. Through a partnership between One Collective and RD Ministries, their youth leaders are being coached in the Jesus-Focused Youth Ministry strategy developed by Reach Out Youth Solutions. They’re learning to disciple young people with this balanced approach, creating spaces where youth feel genuinely accepted and loved, while also challenging them to live counter-culturally for Christ.
The impact is tangible. Young disciples are growing in confidence, stepping into leadership roles, and actively serving their community. They’re inviting friends into this vibrant faith community, and the cycle of discipleship continues.
