A powerful movement of God’s love is unfolding in the rolling hills of Transcarpathia, Ukraine! In an area where the gospel light has been dim, One Community Church is emerging as a beacon of hope for 13,500 people across nine villages.
The story began with a simple question: Where would our IDP families worship? God answered by revealing an even greater opportunity – not just to serve 20 families, but to reach an entire region that had no evangelical presence within five miles. Through divine orchestration, key partnerships formed with Converge and the Transform Uzhhorod Alliance, particularly with New Hope Evangelical Church.
In a beautiful display of God’s perfect timing, He brought Pastor Sasha, an IDP pastor from Fastiv with a powerful testimony of transformation, to join forces with Pastor Viacheslav and our team. The village leadership not only welcomed our presence but opened the doors of the local school – a strategic gateway to reaching youth across all nine villages.
The breakthrough moment came on November 4th with our “Victorious Life” youth festival. Picture this: over 100 teenagers, released from their regular classes, engaging in sports and hearing Pastor Sasha’s compelling story of how Jesus freed him from addiction. The impact was immediate and profound. School administrators, moved by the love and positive influence shown to their students, have thrown open their doors, offering a dedicated space for ongoing ministry!
But this is just the beginning! While our church building takes shape, the ministry is already in full swing. Pastor Sasha, equipped with fresh training in student ministry, is pursuing a vision for a weekly youth club. The momentum is building, hearts are opening, and God’s presence is tangibly felt in Velyki Lazy.
