Canada Returns Gas Turbines To Russia – Day 139 (July 12, 2022)

Summary of the Events

UAF continue to blow up RF weapons depots and military bases with American HIMARS precision missile systems. RF made slight gains against Siversk as troops are now only seven miles from the strategic city.

Belarus

Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko continues to give Russia use of their airspace considering his inability to bring his country into the war. He is trying to walk a fine line by keeping Belarus out of the war, to please the Belarusian people, but allow Russian use of his airspace to placate Putin.

Lukashenko fired Major General Aleksandr Shkirenko who oversees mobilizing the Belarusian army.

Battle for the Donbas (Donetsk and Luhansk)

Target Siversk – RF captured the village of Hryhorivka on Tuesday gaining another 3 miles closer to Siversk. RF forces are now 7 miles from Siversk, their next number one target.

Target Bakhmut – RF are concentrating on improving their tactical position as they prepare for a future assault on Bakhmut. They fired on Bakhmut and nine other surrounding communities on Tuesday using tanks and artillery. They conducted airstrikes on Berestove, Bilohorivka, and Vershyna.

The death toll from the attack last year on Chasiv Yar has now risen to 43 as more bodies are pulled from the rubble.

Target Kramatorsk/Slovyansk – RF on Tuesday fired a barrage of artillery and MLRS on 15 communities around Slovyansk and conducted one airstrike near Serebrinaka.

Expansion from Donetsk – RF attempted to retake Marinka near Donetsk on Tuesday but were repulsed with heavy damage. UAF had taken Marinka in the early days of the invasion which had fallen to Russian-led rebels back in 2014. They also fired artillery on twelve communities and conducted an airstrike against Novoandriivka.

Battle for Kharkiv

RF fired artillery and MLRS against Kharkiv on Tuesday, and on seven communities to the north of the city. Five people were injured. RF attempted to capture Dementiivka on Tuesday but were repelled.

Battle for Kherson

UAF fired on Tuesday at least six precision-guided rockets supplied by the US destroying a RF ammunition depot in Nova Kakhovka. The explosion was so intense it blew out windows of apartments two kilometers away. In addition to munitions, several fuel tankers, hundreds of artillery rockets, and dozens of vehicles were destroyed. 52 Russian soldiers as well as 6 Ukrainian civilians died in the attack. UAF also destroyed a weapons depot in Charivne.

RF are mostly trying to hold their positions in the Kherson region. On Tuesday they fired on seventeen communities with artillery and conducted an airstrike on Zarichne.

Other Regions

Mykolaiv – RF fired rockets on Mykolaiv Tuesday morning hitting two hospitals and several apartment buildings injuring twelve civilians.

Sumy – RD fired artillery on the village of Starykove on Tuesday.

Zaporizhia – UAF hit a military base near Melitopol. Locals reported at least 25 explosions.

Other News

Canada caved under pressure from Germany and returned gas turbines to Russia in violation of international sanctions. Russia had shut down Nord Stream 1 pipeline to Germany claiming that they did not have the turbines to run the pipeline and supply Germany with gas. Russia now knows what buttons to push, and we will begin to see Russia shutting down deliveries of gas throughout Europe to push for sanctions relief. The Ukrainian government has summoned the Canadian ambassador to explain this broach of sanctions against Russia.

President Zelensky announced a new campaign to fight corruption in Ukraine as they move to join the EU. In his first step, he eliminated nearly half of the cabinet positions in Ukraine from twenty to twelve ministries.

Despite Russia’s campaign to destroy Ukraine’s wheat production, Ukraine did manage to harvest one million tons of wheat. Though it is much lower than previous harvests, it will help to ease world hunger if the wheat can make it to the international market.

Ukraine’s richest man, Rinat Akhmetov, will voluntarily turn over his entire media enterprise which includes ten television stations and news programs to the government. A new law on media security requires oligarchs to divest themselves of media resources over the next six months. Akhmetov said it was impossible for him to sell his holdings for market value in sucha short time, so instead he voluntarily turned it all over to the government to dispose of to help fund the rebuilding of Ukraine.

Romania passed a new law in preparation for war with Russia. The law gives Romanian citizens living abroad fifteen days to return to Romania for possible conscription into the armed forces if Romania goes to war.
