Summary of the Events

Russian launched another 100 missiles throughout Ukraine on Friday. RF may have made some significant gains in Eastern Ukraine claiming to have taken Dvorichne in the north and half of Bilohorivka (Luhansk Oblast) south of Kreminna. RF though had no success in Donetsk Oblast and have sustained heavy losses in their failed attempt to capture Vuhledar.

Eastern Ukraine: (Russia’s Main Objective)

RF continue their offensive operations around Kupyansk, Svatove, and Kreminna. Both sides are making conflicting claims, so it is hard to know exactly what is happening.

Kupyansk – RF are concentrating their attacks towards capturing Dvorichna (24 miles N) across the Oskil River which they have said they hope to accomplish in the next few weeks. The R-MoD claims to have captured Dvorichne (28 miles NE) on the east side of the Oskil River but there is no confirmation of this. But this claim is supported by the UGS not mentioning repelling any attack on Dvorichne but claiming that UAF repelled a Russian assault against Hryankivka (2.5 miles SW of Dvorichne). Hryankivka is the settlement between Dvorichne and Dvorichna and a RF assault against it suggests that Dvorichne is under Russian control. A RS also claims that RF advanced towards Synkivka (9 miles NE) and the UGS claimed to have repelled a RF assault towards Masyutivka (14.5 miles NE). UAF are increasing their combat and logistical capabilities to defend Kupyansk. If Dvorichna is taken, then the Kharkiv region is back under threat.

Svatove – The UGS claimed to have repelled a RF assault towards Stelmakhivka (14.5 miles W).

Kreminna – RF are attacking UAF with heavy weapons and pushing UAF back from Kreminna. Video footage posted on social media shows RF moving infantry, BMP Infantry vehicles, and tanks to bolster their offensive in this area. The UGS claims to have repelled RF assaults near Dibrova (6 miles SW). RS have claimed they have pushed UAF back in the Dibrova forest area and are fighting position battles to prepare for an assault to retake Lyman. RS also claim that RF have captured half of Bilohorivka (9 miles S) after UAF retreated to the western outskirts. This has not been confirmed.

Russia received another black eye after UAF destroyed a BMP Infantry vehicle near Kreminna. Russia had claimed their new BMP Infantry vehicles were impervious to NATO weapons. But Ukraine released video footage of them destroying them with only two howitzer rounds.

Donetsk Oblast: (Russia’s Second Objective)

Bakhmut – The heaviest fighting is over Bakhmut. The UGS reported that UAF repelled RF assaults against Bakhmut itself, Fedorivka (9 miles NE), Krasna Hora (2.5 miles N), and Ivanivske (3 miles W). RS claim that RF have reached within artillery range of both the M03 and T0504 highways, the two main supply lines into Bakhmut. If true, this will make it more difficult to supply UAF defending Bakhmut, but not impossible.

Avdiivka/Marinka – Geolocated footage shows that RF sustained significant manpower and equipment in their failed attacks against Avdiivka and surrounding areas. The UGS claimed they repelled attacks near Avdiivka, Krasnohorivka, and Paraskoviivka.

Vuhledar – The same military commanders who failed in their mission to take Vuhledar back in November, are in charge of the operation again and have not learned from their past mistakes. This second invasion has also ended in a very costly defeat for Russia. It is not only the officers’ fault, though, as this time the RF are poorly trained. RS also claim attacks were made against Pervomaiskyi, Vesele, and Marinka.

After heavy losses, it appears that RF are entrenching themselves in the southern outskirts of Vuhledar. Both sides admit that a RF assault was made towards Prechystivka but was repelled. RS claim that RF also unsuccessfully tried to break through UAF lines near Bohoyavlenka in an effort to encircle Vuhledar.

Southern Ukraine: (Eastern Kherson, Southern Zaporizhia, and Western Donetsk)

Fighting in Southern Ukraine remains primarily a standstill. RS claimed one assault was made by RF against Novodanylivka. More and more Wagner Group troops are being seen in Southern Ukraine suggesting they have been pulled out of the fight in Donetsk Oblast and are now being sent to Southern Ukraine as cannon fodder.

The R-MoD posted video footage that showed Russian Airforce units defending along the east bank of the Dnipro River, suggesting that UAF are successfully making raids across the Dnipro River forcing even the air force to be committed to ground defense.

RF continue their daily attacks west of Hulyaipole and in Kherson, Mykolaiv, and Dnipropetrovsk Oblasts. Video footage was also posted of RF firing illegal incendiary munitions against Kherson city.

Russian Mobilization and Troop Morale

The Russian State Duma passed a law that will require all trucks and cargo trucks traveling between Russia and other states to apply for certain timeslots to cross the border starting September 1. This is designed to prevent Russian citizens from leaving the country in large numbers if another mobilization order is given. Kazakhstan also passed a law that will force Russian citizens who fled into Kazakhstan to return to Russia.

Life in Occupied Ukraine

Russian occupation authorities have been ordered to increase the number of Ukrainian children in pro-Russian youth organizations. Pro-Russian curriculum is also being forced on Ukrainian children in schools.

Other News

Russia launched another 100 missiles against critical and civil infrastructure throughout Ukraine. They also launched seven military drones. All the drones were shot down, and reports conflict about whether 60% or 75% of the missiles were shot down. Missiles struck targets in Kyiv, Khmelnitsky, Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhia, Odesa, Mykolaiv, Poltava, Zhytomyr, Kirovohrad, and Kharkiv oblasts. For the first time, two missiles flew over Moldova and Romania airspace. Romania is a member of NATO which means two missiles flew over NATO airspace. Neither country assisted Ukraine in shooting down those two missiles.

The International Olympic Committee stated that Ukraine’s call for a boycott on the 2024 Summer Olympics is not within the spirit of the Olympics. Ukraine is upset that the IOC is allowing Russian and Belarusians to compete in the Olympics.
