Russia 1

Russia continued its offensive operation toward Kupyansk but made no territorial gains on Sunday.

Russia 2

Russia has changed their focus from the Kupyansk direction (Russia 1) to attacking in the direction of Novoyehorivka (11 miles SE of Svatove). Ten assaults were made on Sunday, all of which were repelled by Ukrainian defenders.

Russia 3

Russia continued its offensive operations towards Avdiivka and in Marinka but made no territorial gains on Sunday. Russia also conducted an assault on Vuhledar, the outcome of which is yet unknown.

Ukraine 1

Ukraine conducted 14 attacks in the Bakhmut region but were unable to make any territorial gains on Sunday.

Ukraine 2

Ukraine continued its counteroffensive in this region and reportedly made some gains around Urozhaine and Staromaiorske. The claims have not been confirmed though.

Ukraine 3

Ukrainian forces continue to advance towards Novopokropivka, but in a surprise move, instead of also advancing on Verbove, they instead headed further south towards Ocheretuvate. Perhaps Ukraine is planning on taking Verbove without a fight by forcing Russian forces to retreat before they are surrounded. This is a bold move on Ukraine instead of the more cautious drive to Verbove. With Russian forces thin along the line, it may pay off. Ukrainian forces are also widening the gap in the north by moving towards Mala Tokmachka which Russia had taken while Ukraine was giving priority to taking Robotyne.

Ukraine 4

Russia launched eight missiles against an airfield near Kyiv in the early hours of Sunday morning, but all of them were intercepted and did no damage.

Ukraine had more fortune in their drone attack on a Russian airfield overnight near Kursk, Russia. Four SU-30 aircraft and one MiG-29 jet fighter were hit, as well as two missile launchers and a radar air defense system. Of the 16 known drones launched, only three of them were intercepted by Russian air defense systems.

Ukraine reported that three of their pilots were killed on Friday in a mid-air collision during exercises. One of those killed was Andrii Pilshchykov who was already a legend at the age of 20. He received the nickname “Juice” by American pilots during a NATO training exercise in 2018 when he was only 17. They called him “Juice” because he refused to drink alcohol during the exercises.
