It was another devastating day for Ukraine since the US stopped supplying air defense systems to Ukraine. Russia launched 51 missiles and 8 drones against Ukraine. Ukraine was able to shoot down all the drones, but 33 missiles were able to hit their targets which were primarily civilian infrastructure and military facilities in Kharkiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhia, and Khmelnitsky Oblasts. As Congress fights over continuing support for Ukraine, missiles are falling on our cities and there is little we can do about it. Ukraine is also finding it difficult to defend the frontlines without the artillery that the US was supplying for its defense.
At least four people were killed and another 45 injured in the attacks. Missiles struck a shopping center and high-rise apartment building in Zelensky’s hometown of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast killing one person. Two people were killed in western Khmelnitsky, Oblast and another elderly woman in Zmiiv, Kharkiv Oblast, when a missile struck her home. Five missiles struck Zaporizhia but so far only two injuries have been reported from that attack.
