Russian Forces Retreat Across Dnepro River in Kherson Oblast – Days 255-261 (November 5-11, 2022)

Summary of the Events

RF retreated across the Dnepr River abandoning their positions on the west bank in Kherson region, including Kherson, the only capital city that was captured by the Russians. Heavy fighting continues around Bakhmut and Avdiivka. RF have taken Pavlivka and reached the outskirts of Marinka, but it cannot be considered a success given the number of casualties reported even by the Russians itself.

Sloboda Front (UAF)

RF attempted to retake regions around Novoselivka and Makiyivka but were repelled by UAF.

Siversky Donets Front (UAF)

RF broke through UAF defense line and reached the outskirts of Bilohorivka. RF attempted to advance in the direction of Terny, Spirne, and Yampil but were repelled.

Bakhmut Front (RF)

Fighting continues in Soledar, Bakhmutske, and in the direction of Bakhmut. RF also entered the outskirts of Ivanhrad and Mayorsk placing those two towns in contest. RF attempted to advance on Yakovlivka, Opytne, Klishchivka, Andriivka, Ozerianivka, and Mayorsk but were repelled.

Avdiivka Front (RF)

RF attempted to advance towards Kamianka, Pervomaiskyi, Nevelske, Krasnohorivka, Vodiane, and Vesele but were repelled.

Donetsk Front (RF)

RF have captured the eastern outskirts of Pavlivka and the northern outskirts of Marinka. Russia claims to have conquered all Pavlivka, but that has not yet been confirmed. RF also attempted to advance on Novomykhailivka but were repelled.

Zaporizhia Front

RF attempted to advance towards Shcherbaky but were repulsed.

Kherson Front (UAF)

RF have retreated over the Dnepr River allowing UAF to liberate all western Kherson region including the capital city of Kherson and the key city of Nova Kakhovka. RF did blow up the bridges to stop UAF from chasing their retreating forces. And Russian blew up all water and electricity to the city of Kherson.

Other News

Russia only has a capacity to train 120,000 new conscripts at a time and will find it difficult to train the 420,000 new recruits. Belarus will assist a little by offering their training facilities, but the truth of the matter is that most of Russia’s new conscripts will have little training and will not be able to be an effective offensive force. Ten European countries have opened their training facilities to train the half million Ukrainian conscripts and thus will have a much more effective fighting force.

The G7 nations rejected Russia’s claim that Ukraine was preparing to use a dirty bomb. Russia was hoping to use that as justification of them using tactical nuclear weapons against Ukraine.

Tajiks living within Russian territory are refusing to join the RF.

The commander of the forces of the Donetsk breakaway region Aleksandr Khodakovsky claimed that 60% of total Russian troop losses are due to friendly fire.

Colonel General Alexander Lapin was replaced by Major General Alexander Linkov as RF commander of the Central Military District due to his failures on the ground.

Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, Russian Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, stated that Russia has already lost 278 aircraft, which is over twice the amount they lost in the entire Afghan War where they lost 119 aircraft. This explains Russia’s decreased ability to rule in the air.

Reports of discord between Belarusian and Russian soldiers are increasing, leading to an uncontrolled escalation of tension in Belarus according to Ukrainian intelligence. 9000 Russian troops are now stationed in Belarus but have a disrespectful attitude towards their Belarusian compatriots. The probability of Belarus joining in the conflict against Ukraine remains low.

Elon Musk continues to shut down Ukraine’s access to his Starlink satellite system which has been vital for Ukraine in attacking Russian supply centers. Musk is attempting to receive funding from the U.S. military to cover the expenses of providing these satellite connections to Ukraine.

Russia has reached an agreement to purchase ballistic missiles from Iran to replenish their stock after using them all on Ukraine. Iran is becoming more and more open in their support of Russia as US President Biden continues to open up to Iran despite their support of Russia.

Russia is busy building defensive structures along their lines to prevent UAF from taking back any more territory.

Ukraine has dropped its condition that President Putin resign before Ukraine would restart peace talks.

RF conducted a missile strike on residential buildings in Mykolaiv yesterday. At least six people were killed.

On Friday, a prisoner exchange brought home 45 more Ukrainian POWs. Two bodies of killed personnel were also returned.

International Support

Switzerland has pledged to help Ukraine restore energy facilities bombed by RF in the Odesa region.

Ukraine finally received several air defense systems last Monday promised by Western nations. Spain has pledged to send two more systems to Ukraine. The UK announced they will send an additional 1000 surface to air missiles to Ukraine to protect their critical infrastructure that is being constantly targeted by Russia.
