Russian forces have halted all advances due to their huge losses, but their crushing air and artillery bombardment of cities continues unabated.
Battle for Kyiv (including Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Sumy, & Zhitomir)
A nine-story apartment building was bombed from the air in Kyiv killing one resident and injuring at least a dozen others.
Battle for the Donbas (Donetsk & Luhansk regions)
The death toll in Mariupol has grown to 2200, which means 700 people died on Sunday from thirst, starvation, and bombing. A hundred bombs were dropped on the city on Sunday alone. Turkey has requested that its citizens trapped in the city be allowed to evacuate. Humanitarian aid trying to get into the city continues to be blocked by Russian forces. By evening 160 cars of civilians were allowed to leave Mariupol.
Russia accused Ukraine of firing a rocket on Donetsk killing 23 civilians.
Battle for Black Sea (Kherson, Mykolaiv, Odessa)
Russia has a naval blockade on all Ukrainian ports on the Black Sea cutting off all maritime trade to Ukraine.
Other News
Chechen terrorist leader Ramzan Kadyrov released a video of him in Gostomel planning the attack on Kyiv with his Russian allies.
The New York Times reported that Russia asked China for financial and military assistance in its war with Ukraine. China denied any such request was made.
Ukrainian intelligence reported that Russia offered high salaries to Belarusian special forces, but they continue to refuse to fight against Ukraine.
After Ukrainian technicians finally restored power to the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant, Russian forces again damaged the power line. Without electricity, Chernobyl is at risk of another nucellar disaster.
Elon Musk challenged Russian President Vladimir Putin to single combat with the stakes being Ukraine.
Peace Negotiations
Russia and Ukraine had their fifth round of peace negotiations today via teleconference. The specifics of this meeting are not public, but those in attendance on both sides said the talks were hard and centered mostly on accusations of civilian deaths.
International Support
EU Foreign Policy Chief Josep Borrell announced a fourth packet of sanctions on Russia. These sanctions attacks Russia’s trade, market access, membership in international financial institutions and the export of luxury goods — specifically targeting steel, coal, and energy sectors.
